Description:The Communications Intern will work with the Communications Manager to build awareness and increase engagement of the supporters of Deborah�s Place. The Communications Manager is a member of the Development Department and responsible for external communications, the organization�s website, and two fundraising appeals. This position is looking for someone who is interesting in working with various aspects of nonprofit communications, marketing and development. This position is a mix of creative and project-based. The Communications Intern will not only help brainstorm strategies for communications, but also implement them.
Duties:Primary Tasks and Responsibilities:

� Assist in implementing the Deborah�s Place Communications Plan

� Manage the social media networking sites of Deborah�s Place by creating and finding content and developing social media campaigns that increase engagement

� Monitor the social networking sites of Deborah�s Place and the presence of similar nonprofits on social networking sites

� Brainstorm content topics and write copy for external and internal communications, including email marketing, website content, and social media copy

� Research development, marketing and communications strategies for nonprofits that are relevant to Deborah�s Place and brainstorm on how these strategies could be adjusted and implemented to meet the goals of the Development Team

� Assist the Communications Manager in the the concept development, copy, and design of the Holiday Appeal direct mail piece and related email and social media appeals

� Help evaluate the effectiveness of the communications of Deborah�s Place through data analysis
Qualifications:Applicant Strengths and Qualities:

� Familiar with Twitter and Facebook

� Passionate about Social Media

� Friendly and conversational

� Entrepreneurial

� Must be detail oriented, team player and technologically savvy

� Commitment to mission

� Ability to adopt organizational voice

� Great writer

� Graphic design experience/education preferred but not required
